“Join in Exultation” is a spiritual song joyfully detailing how believers will rejoice in our eternal King when he comes to set up His millennial kingdom upon the earth. Proverbs 29:2 says, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice,” and God’s people have never yet rejoiced as they shall when King Jesus comes to reign! May we not withhold our praises till that day, but now let us “Join in Exultation” as one voice in praise of the King.
Lyricist James Rowe was known as one of the most prolific sacred writers of his time, publishing more than nine thousand original works during his productive life. Although his pen flowed freely with poems and hymns later in life, Rowe did not begin his sacred writing until he had reached the second half of his time on earth.
Though he was born in England, Rowe emigrated to Ireland while still a young man to serve in the government survey office in Dublin. In 1890 Rowe would immigrate to the United States of America where he would labour for 10 years in the employ of the New York Central & Hudson Railroad and for twelve years as superintendent of the Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society. Toward the end of his life, Rowe was bestowed the title of “The Bard of Albany,” showing forth with the fruits of his labours that one need not surrender to full time Christian service to serve God in an impactful way.
Native Virginian Samuel W. Beazley was also a prolific writer, composing or lyricizing more than four thousand songs and hymns over the course of his decades-long career. Beazley was instrumental in the compilation and production process of multiple collections of hymns, most notably the one hundred and twenty-song compilation entitled “Living Hymns” which was published in 1923.
An able teacher, Beazley taught in various singing schools for ten years, and at the Shenandoah College in Winchester, VA for five years.
Though many of Beazley’s hymns have today fallen into obscurity, those who seek out his melodies or lyrics are blessed by the skill and zeal which Beazley applied to his efforts. Several of Beazley’s tunes include complex or unique elements which make his songs a joy for congregations and choirs alike to sing.

“Melody Publications is an organization focused on reawakening the melody of truth in the hearts and minds of believers at home and abroad. Our prayer is that our work would aid churches and families as they sing “Psalms and Hymns and Spiritual Songs” in praise and in worship to our God.”
